Business Challenge: Lack of clarity of systems, process, and services followed by best-in-class 3PL service providers
A leading beverages manufacturer with operations across the globe wanted to explore the industry best practices specific to systems, process, and services of 3PL service providers.
Situation: The client wanted to develop detailed understanding of the processes followed by best in class companies
The client was interested in understanding how do 3PLs distinguish themselves from the competition, what are the continuous improvement execution strategies they implement, what technologies do they use to deliver best-in-class warehouse cycle time, inventory control and quality performance, and what automation and technology strategies do 3PLs employ to respond to variation in daily order demand caused by an increasingly decentralized customer base.
Approach: Applied a systematic approach for assessment of the practices specific to systems, process, and services followed by bet-in-class companies
We took a systematic approach to obtain details about the best-in-class companies. We conducted multiple interviews and discussions to gather information around the processes followed by the 3PL providers and conducted a deep-dive assessment of their processes to gain clarity on their strategies and how they maximize the outcomes. Also, we identified top 5 suppliers whom the client could partner. We also developed recommendations for the client to support their implementation plan.
